The EMCL Masters (M.Sc.) program is a two year full time study program. The number of ECTS is 120. Students obtain a joint degree from the consortium. Language of instruction in all institutions of the consortium is English.

3 teaching semesters

In the first month, always starting on the 1st of September, propedeutic courses (5 ECTS) are held in Potsdam to overcome differences in academic knowledge at a very early stage of the program. Introductions are offered into Clinical Linguistics, Theoretical Linguistics and Methodology/Statistics.
Teaching semesters
First semester (October-February, 25 ECTS) can be spent in either Groningen or Joensuu. Groningen has a focus on Clinical Aphasiology, Developmental Language Disorders and Developmental Dyslexia. Joensuu offers classes on Experimental Linguistics, Psycho-/Neurolinguistics and Language Development in Autism.
All students are together in Potsdam in the second semester (March-September, 30 ECTS). Classes will be on Neurological rehabilitation, Methods/Statistics, Language Development, Language Processing, Language Assessment and Topics in Neurolinguistics. Another focus is on Scientific Writing.

Thesis
The fourth semester (March-August, 30 ECTS) is spent on thesis work at the institution of the first supervisor.
Cultural and language courses
Apart from the scientific content of the program, cultural and language courses are an obligatory part in each teaching semester. Students are invited to learn the language of their host institution, get an idea of the cultural diversity in Europe and acquire skills in intercultural competence.
Mobility scheme
The mobility scheme for the three teaching semesters (months 2-18) requires that students attend at least two of the three participating institutions of the consortium. The Thesis work semester (months 19-24) can be spent at any of the partner institutions depending on where the first supervisor is from.
